Are the stopper and overflow usually included in a bathroom sink drain replacement?
If a bathroom sink drain assembly needs replacing, should the quote spell out whether it includes the stopper and overflow connection, plus reconnecting the existing trap and checking for leaks?
I’m also curious how plumbers distinguish that work from a separate trap or supply-line replacement, and how concealed damage or incompatible fittings are typically handled and priced.

Yes - the quote should say whether the stopper and overflow connection are included, whether the existing trap will simply be reconnected, and whether leak checking is part of the work. If the trap or supply lines might need replacement, list those as separate items rather than implying they’re included in the drain assembly. For concealed damage or incompatible fittings, ask how extra work will be priced and whether it requires your approval before proceeding.
