Shower drain grate won’t lift easily
What clues help identify whether a shower drain grate is held by screws or clips? Accessible screw heads seem like a clear sign, but a grate with no visible screws might still have a fastening method that isn’t obvious.
If it resists a gentle lift, is it safer to clean the hair reachable from above and leave the grate in place until its attachment is clear? I’d rather not bend the grate or damage the fasteners or drain assembly by prying at it.

Visible screw heads are a good sign of screw fastening, but a grate without visible screws could still have concealed fasteners or clips; appearance alone may not settle it. If a gentle lift meets resistance and you can’t identify the attachment, clean only what’s reachable from above and leave the grate in place rather than prying.
