What should a bathroom drain-clearing quote cover?
When a plumber quotes to clear a bathroom drain, what should be included in the initial price? I’d want to know whether it covers one fixture or a shared drain line, and whether diagnosis and clearing are priced together or separately.
If the blockage turns out to need deeper investigation or different equipment, how do you handle the added cost? Is it reasonable to ask for a clear explanation and approval before any extra work starts?

Ask the quote to state any call-out or diagnostic charge, whether it covers one fixture or a shared line, and whether clearing is included or priced separately. It should also identify the clearing method or equipment covered and any limits. If more investigation or different equipment is needed, ask for the reason and added price before authorizing it; you can then approve it or stop at the original scope.
