What should a washer hose replacement quote spell out?
A quote for replacing washer supply hoses can leave some important scope details unclear. Should it specify the hose type and length, and whether the existing shutoff valves will be inspected or replaced if they’re worn or don’t operate properly?
I’d also want to know whether leak detection or automatic shutoff protection is included or priced separately, and whether removal and disposal of the old hoses are part of the job. If the plumber finds a valve problem or recommends added protection, how do you make sure the extra work and cost are approved before it proceeds?

Yes - the quote should name the hose construction and length, and say it will be suitable for the washer’s supply connections. That makes the specified replacement clear instead of leaving the hose choice open-ended.
The quote should say the shutoff valves will be checked for visible condition and operation. If one is worn or will not operate properly, valve replacement should be listed as separate work, with its price and scope provided for approval before the plumber proceeds.
The quote should say whether leak detection is included, what kind of detection is proposed, and its price. If automatic shutoff is optional, list it separately rather than implying that detection automatically includes shutoff; confirm the added scope and cost before authorizing it.
The quote should state whether removing the old hoses and disposing of them are included, excluded, or priced separately. That way, the quoted total and any additional charge for disposal are clear before the work begins.
