my sink ate a spoon and now I'm learning plumbing the hard way

So yesterday, I'm rinsing dishes, minding my own business, when suddenly my garbage disposal makes this awful grinding noise - turns out a spoon decided to dive in headfirst. Managed to fish it out, but now the disposal's acting all weird and leaking underneath. Watched some videos online about pipes and seals and stuff, but honestly, plumbing feels like rocket science right now. Anyone else had their sink eat something weird?

Had a customer once whose disposal decided to snack on a shot glass - still not sure how that got in there. Anyway, even tiny chips of glass can mess up seals and cause leaks. Did you check if the spoon bent any blades or cracked the disposal housing? Sometimes it's sneaky damage you don't notice at first glance...
