The tap in my kitchen is the same—after a battery swap, it’s like it needs a nap before it’ll wake up and cooperate.

That “nap” thing cracks me up because I’ve run into it too. I swapped batteries in a client’s touchless faucet last month, and for a good ten minutes, it just sat there blinking at me like it was offended. I actually tried pulling the batteries out and holding down the sensor (not sure why, just felt like something should happen) but nope, nothing. Eventually, it just started working again on its own.

I’ve wondered if some of these sensors have a tiny capacitor or something that needs to fully drain before they’ll reset. It’s weird though—some brands seem to bounce back instantly after a battery change, while others act like you’ve interrupted their beauty sleep. Ever notice if unplugging the control box (if yours has one) helps at all? Sometimes that does the trick for me.

A hard reset button would be genius. Why don’t more manufacturers add that? Seems like such an obvious fix for these little tech tantrums...

Yeah, I’ve seen that “nap mode” after a battery swap more times than I care to admit. Sometimes I’ll unplug the control box for a minute or two and that seems to help, but not always. I do think you’re onto something with the capacitor theory—some of these units probably need a full power drain before they’ll reset. It’s a bit of a guessing game, honestly. Wouldn’t mind a simple reset button either, but until then, patience (and maybe a coffee break) seems to be the best fix.
