Two basins or more counter space in a shared bathroom?
For a hypothetical shared bathroom where either layout could fit, would you choose two basins or one basin with more counter space?
Two basins sound useful when people get ready together, but I wonder whether the basin is always what they’re waiting for. A single basin leaves more room to put things down and less to clean.
What would tip your preference? Would it change if the overlap were only a few busy mornings rather than every day?

If the overlap is only a few busy mornings, I’d lean toward one basin and the extra counter space. I’d give that space up for a second basin if people regularly need the sink at the same time.
That distinction matters: on a busy morning, if one person is brushing at the sink while the other only needs somewhere to lay out toiletries, a single basin with generous counter space lets both get ready without competing for the basin. The second one seems most useful when both actually need running water at once.
