Keep a bath for flexibility, or trade it for a roomier shower?
For a hypothetical bathroom refresh, would you keep a bath with a shower over it, or use that space for a roomier shower? A larger shower might make everyday use more comfortable, while keeping a bath leaves an option for occasional use or a change in routine. Cleaning and ease of use would matter too. What would genuinely tip your preference? I’m interested in the practical trade-off, without assuming either layout adds resale value.

If the bath would rarely get used, I’d lean toward the roomier shower. Giving up that occasional option seems worth it if the extra space makes the everyday routine more comfortable.
The occasional-use option could still tip the balance for me. Even if I rarely used the bath now, I’d be reluctant to give it up if having that flexibility mattered more than a roomier shower.
The “change in routine” is what would tip it for me: if the household expected a bath to become useful later, I’d give that flexibility more weight. Without a reason to expect that, I’d put more weight on the roomier shower’s everyday comfort.
