Same here. I had a friend whose “smart” shutoff failed during a power outage - water everywhere, and the app just spun. I’ll take a sturdy manual valve any day. Sometimes simple really is safer.

Man, I hear you on the stud finders. I’ve had better luck with a flashlight and patience - sometimes you can spot the nail heads in the drywall if you catch the light just right. I’m always nervous about hitting a pipe, ...
