Can a water-heater timer keep up with an irregular schedule?
A timer can cut heating hours, but a schedule that shifts from day to day may leave too little hot water when demand moves unexpectedly. How much does recovery after an off period depend on tank size and heater type, and how much can the stored hot water usually bridge the gap?
A predictable daily routine seems easier to manage with scheduled heating than occasional changes in demand. For less predictable households, how do the energy savings from a timer compare with any added standby losses or recovery needs? I’m also curious which heater controls and electrical setups are compatible with timers, rather than assuming any timer can switch any water heater.
