What’s included in a septic pumping quote?
Beyond the pumping itself, what should a septic pumping quote specify so different bids are comparable? I’d want to know whether locating and uncovering the lids, pumping all tank compartments, and cleaning the effluent filter are included or extra. How do companies typically handle added charges when lids are difficult to access or the tank has unusually heavy solids? And is an inspection normally part of the pumping quote, or a separate service?

Ask each company to spell out which lids it will locate and uncover, whether it will pump every compartment, and whether effluent-filter cleaning is included or priced separately. For access or unusually heavy solids, compare the stated extra-charge conditions and any rate or estimate process - not just the base price. Have the quote say whether inspection is included and what it covers, or list it as an optional, separately priced service.
