I’ve seen this play out a hundred times—folks get ambitious with a wrench, then call me when their “quick fix” turns into Niagara Falls under the floorboards. I get the urge to DIY, trust me, but water has a sneaky way of finding trouble. Sometimes paying for peace of mind is worth it… unless you like living dangerously.

I get where you’re coming from—water’s one of those things that’ll humble even the most confident DIYer. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been called in after a “simple” faucet swap turned into a full-blown leak behind the wall. Thing is, there’s a difference between changing a showerhead and messing with pipes you can’t see.

But I’ll admit, there’s something satisfying about fixing stuff yourself, and not every job needs a pro. If you’re just swapping out a washer or tightening a loose connection, go for it. Just know your limits. The moment you’re reaching for a pipe wrench and YouTube at the same time, maybe pause and think about what could go wrong. Water damage isn’t just a mess—it’s expensive, and insurance doesn’t always cover DIY disasters.

Honestly, sometimes it’s worth paying for someone who’s seen it all before. Peace of mind beats mopping up a flooded basement any day.
