I get the appeal of saving money and learning new skills, but I’ve seen a lot of “simple” jobs turn into expensive messes. Swapping a faucet or toilet? Usually fine if you’re careful. But patching copper lines—honestly, that’s where things can go sideways fast. Soldering isn’t as easy as YouTube makes it look, and one bad joint can cause a slow leak you won’t notice until there’s real damage.
I’m not saying call a pro for every drip, but if you see corrosion, weird pipe layouts, or anything that looks like it’s been “fixed” before, it’s probably worth getting someone in. Sometimes the money you save up front gets eaten by repairs down the line... just my two cents from cleaning up after a lot of DIYs gone wrong.
