What should a main shutoff valve replacement quote spell out?
How do you compare quotes for replacing a corroded main water shutoff when the work may involve more than swapping the valve? I’d want to know whether the price includes arranging a temporary water shutoff and restoring service, or whether that coordination is billed separately.
It’d also help to see the valve replacement separated from any nearby pipe repair, difficult-access work, or permit charges. If the plumber finds additional work once the area is open, how should approval and pricing for that change be handled?
