Shower water gets past the door near the threshold
Water escaping at a shower door doesn’t always mean the sweep needs replacing. What details help tell a worn or poorly seated sweep from a door that’s out of alignment, or spray being directed toward the opening?
Does it matter whether water appears only while the shower is running or continues afterward, and whether it shows up along the sweep or beyond the threshold? I’d also like to know what can be checked by looking at the seal and door position without taking the enclosure apart.

If water appears only while the shower is running, especially when the spray hits the doorway, its direction may be the main clue. Water tracing through a gap at the sweep or collecting just inside the threshold points more toward the seal or its seating. Look along the full sweep for gaps, curling, or sections that sit unevenly; check whether the closed door hangs evenly and meets the side seal consistently. You can observe those details and the spray path without taking the enclosure apart.
