One slow kitchen basin, with no obvious clog
What observations are actually useful for separating a partial drain restriction from a venting problem when a kitchen sink drains slowly but there’s no obvious clog?
Does the distinction change if only one basin is affected versus several fixtures, or if there’s gurgling or movement at the trap while water drains? I’m especially interested in safe, non-invasive ways to narrow it down before choosing a cleaning method or calling a plumber. What would you want to know first?

If only the kitchen sink is slow, a restriction in its trap or nearby branch is more likely; if several fixtures drain poorly, consider a shared drain or vent issue. Gurgling or trap-water movement can point to disturbed airflow, but neither proves a vent fault - restrictions can also cause them. Without dismantling anything, compare how nearby fixtures drain and note whether the noises occur as water runs or afterward.
