What should a heat-pump water heater replacement quote include?
When comparing heat-pump water heater replacement quotes, which scope details are easiest to miss? I’d especially want to understand how electrical work, condensate routing, and any ducting are handled, and what startup and commissioning include. What else should be spelled out so the quotes are comparable?

For each quote, ask what electrical work is included versus left to another contractor or an allowance, and who handles any needed circuit or panel changes. For condensate and ducting, compare the proposed routes, destination or termination, materials, and labor - not just whether they’re listed. Have “startup and commissioning” defined by the checks and settings included. Also compare permits, removal and disposal of the old unit, exclusions, allowances, and who prices or completes any unresolved work; those can explain a lower headline price.
