Disposal inlet only leaks during dishwasher drain
If a leak shows up at a garbage disposal’s dishwasher inlet, what would you check first? Does it point more toward the hose connection or inlet seal, or could a restricted drain be pushing water out there?
Would it matter whether it leaks only while the dishwasher pumps out, or also when the disposal runs? I’d also want to know whether the sink drains freely or backs up, and whether the water is coming from the hose connection or a lower seam on the disposal. At what point is it better to stop using it and call a plumber?

I’d first dry the area, then watch during a dishwasher drain: water appearing right at the hose joint points toward that connection or the inlet, while a drip from the disposal body suggests a seam or housing issue. A leak only during pump-out fits the hose path or pressure from a restriction, but timing alone doesn’t prove the cause. If the sink backs up, or water keeps leaking, stop using the dishwasher and disposal until it’s checked; a persistent leak or leak from the body is a good reason to call a plumber.
After drying it, look for where moisture first reappears: a wet trail along the hose or droplets beneath the clamp point toward the hose connection; water emerging at the circular inlet where it meets the disposal points more toward the inlet seal. Since water can run along the hose or housing, follow the trail upward to its highest wet point rather than relying on where it drips.
