If you’re worried about waste, maybe look for one with replaceable parts?

That’s a good point. I switched to a model with a replaceable filter and it’s helped a lot with buildup. It’s not perfect—still have to clean it every few months—but at least I’m not tossing the whole thing. I do wish more companies made parts easy to swap out instead of just selling all-in-one units. Less plastic in the landfill, you know?

Yeah, I hear you on the replaceable parts thing. I had a showerhead years ago that was basically one solid chunk of plastic—once it got clogged, there was no saving it. Swapping to one with a filter and removable faceplate made a huge difference. Still gotta deal with the gunk, but at least I’m not tossing the whole thing every time. It’s wild how few companies actually think about long-term waste. Would be nice if more of them caught on.

I totally get the frustration with those all-in-one plastic showerheads. I’ve been burned by that too—once it’s clogged, it’s landfill time. The filter and removable faceplate thing is a game changer, though I still wonder if it’s just delaying the inevitable. Have you tried soaking the parts in vinegar to clear out mineral buildup? Sometimes I feel like I’m spending more time cleaning than actually showering... but at least it saves a few bucks and keeps stuff out of the trash. Curious if anyone’s found a brand that actually holds up long-term without costing a fortune?

I hear you on the cleaning—it does get old fast. But honestly, I think the vinegar trick only buys time, especially if your water’s super hard. I’ve tried a few “high-end” brands and even those start spraying sideways after a year or two. Maybe metal ones last longer, but the cost jumps up quick. Ever looked into swapping out just the gasket or O-rings? Sometimes it’s not even the head, just a $2 part that’s gone bad.

I didn’t even realize you could just swap out the gasket or O-rings until I watched some random YouTube video. Feels a bit like overkill to buy a whole new shower head when it’s probably just a tiny rubber piece causing chaos. Still, I’m kinda skeptical—like, even after replacing those, doesn’t the buildup come back anyway? Hard water just wrecks everything over time. I’ve tried the vinegar thing too. Worked for a bit, but it’s a losing battle with our pipes...
