Yeah, I’ve seen folks go a little wild with the vinegar baths too. It’s tempting to just soak the whole thing and hope for the best, but some of those cheaper showerheads really can’t handle it. I usually just unscrew mine and poke at the holes with a toothpick or something soft—gets the gunk out without risking cracked plastic or weird leaks later. Learned that the hard way after a “deep clean” left me with a drippy mess and a trip to the hardware store...

Honestly, I’ve had mixed results with the toothpick method. Sometimes it just pushes the mineral crud further in, especially if the buildup’s bad. Haven’t had any plastic crack from vinegar yet, but maybe I’m just lucky...

I tried the toothpick thing last year and ended up with a couple jets spraying sideways... probably jammed some gunk deeper, like you said. Ended up soaking the whole head in vinegar overnight, which worked way better for me. Guess it depends how bad the buildup is.

That toothpick trick is a gamble, honestly. I’ve seen folks poke at those little holes and suddenly it’s like a garden sprinkler in the bathroom. The vinegar soak’s usually my go-to too. Once had a customer who thought a paperclip would do the job—ended up with three sideways streams and a very annoyed wife. Sometimes, if the buildup’s really stubborn, you might need to take the whole thing apart and give it a proper scrub. Not everyone’s up for that mess, though.

Honestly, you’re not alone—those little jets going rogue are way more common than people think. I’ve had the same thing happen after poking around with a safety pin. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it just makes a mess. The vinegar soak is usually less risky, but if it’s really caked up, taking the head apart isn’t as bad as it sounds. Just keep track of the parts and maybe snap a pic before you start... makes putting it back together way easier. You’ve got this.
