What should a quote clarify when a faucet may not fit the sink?

A bathroom faucet swap can sound straightforward until the sink’s hole layout doesn’t match the faucet being considered. What should a replacement quote spell out about compatibility with the existing hole count and spacing?

I’d also want to know how the estimate handles an unused hole, such as whether a cover plate is included, and how any needed sink modification or extra parts would be priced. Is it reasonable to ask for those possibilities to be listed separately before approving the work, without assuming the sink will need altering?
