What if the dishwasher shutoff can’t be reached?

A basic dishwasher replacement quote may assume the water shutoff can be reached and operated, but what happens to the scope if it’s tucked out of reach or won’t turn?

When comparing quotes, should the written scope spell out disconnecting and removing the old dishwasher, then reconnecting the water supply and drain? I’d also want to know whether dealing with an inaccessible or stuck shutoff is included or priced separately, and whether extra plumbing work would need a revised quote.

What details or photos would help a plumber estimate that part accurately, especially if the valve itself can’t be seen?

If the valve itself can’t be seen, a photo of the supply line’s route and where it disappears could still help. It may show whether the valve is likely reachable from an adjacent cabinet or access panel, which is a very different estimate from having to investigate how to get to it.
