RE: Battling stubborn tree roots in your pipes? Here’s what worked for me
Honestly, I get the temptation to just keep patching things up, but in my experience, lining old clay pipes is kind of like putting a band-aid on a leaky tire. It’ll hold for a while, but those roots are relentless, espe...
RE: Half flush never seems to work right - am I missing something?
Yeah, I hear you - half flushes are hit or miss for me too. I’ve tried tweaking the float and cleaning out the rim jets, but it’s still not as reliable as the old-school single flush. Honestly, sometimes it feels like I’...
RE: Restaurant kitchen shut down after messy plumbing fiasco - thoughts?
Had a similar thing happen at home - thought my fancy leak detector would catch everything, but it missed a slow drip under the sink. Ended up with warped cabinets. Now I just check under there every week myself. Tech’s ...
RE: Best ways to deal with slow drains at home?
I’ve actually been down the enzyme cleaner road a few times, mostly because I try to avoid harsh chemicals whenever possible. Here’s what’s worked (and not worked) for me: Step 1: If the drain is just a little sluggish,...
RE: My Pipes Burst at 2 AM - Ever Had a Midnight Plumbing Nightmare?

Couldn’t agree more. I used to think my bedroom was freezing because the old windows were junk, but it was just a gap under the door letting cold air in all night. Here’s what worked for me: 1) Rolled up an old towel as ...
RE: Plumbing tips that change with the seasons
I hear you on the wool - tried it myself and had pretty much the same outcome. That smell is no joke, especially if you’ve got a crawlspace that never really dries out. If you’re looking for something eco-friendlier bu...
RE: Battle Of The Blocked Sink: Which Magic Potion Actually Works?
If you’re worried about the air blasters, I get it - old pipes can be unpredictable. I’ve always stuck to low-impact fixes for that reason. Here’s my go-to routine when the sink gets slow: 1. Boil a kettle of water and ...
RE: My Pipes Burst at 2 AM - Ever Had a Midnight Plumbing Nightmare?
I've been there - nothing like a surprise indoor waterfall at midnight. If you're looking for a simple, eco-friendly backup, insulating your pipes can help prevent bursts. Cheap foam sleeves from the hardware store do wo...
