RE: When your bathroom sink ends up off-center
Honestly, I’m with you on the silicone. It’s not glamorous, but it does the job and saves you from water damage headaches down the line. The off-center thing used to drive me nuts too, but after a while, you just stop ca...
RE: When your bathroom sink ends up off-center
I get it - stuff like an off-center sink bugs me at first, but after a while, I just stop noticing. Honestly, unless it’s way off or messing with how you use the bathroom, I wouldn’t stress. Like you said, That’s just h...
RE: Making sure your home’s pipes are up to code - how I do it
I hear you on the stickers - tried a “high temp” one last year and it lasted about two weeks before it was just a sticky mess on the floor. Metal tags are the only thing that’s survived my basement humidity and the occas...
RE: When the Toilet Floods at Midnight: My DIY Save
Honestly, I’ve never understood why people ignore those crusty old valves until it’s too late. I had one snap off in my hand once - talk about a mess. I’m with you on the labeling, but I’d argue it’s just as important to...
RE: Handy shortcuts for finding plumbing info quick
I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve had painter’s tape peel off after a few months, especially in the basement where it gets damp. Sharpie’s great until the label falls off and you’re back to square one. I started u...
RE: Plumbing tips that change with the seasons
Recycled denim’s actually not a bad idea for those weird pipe junctions - way easier to cut than mineral wool, and you don’t end up itching like crazy after handling it. I’ve used it in my basement around some awkward be...
RE: my shower's gone rogue and sprays everywhere but down
That’s not just you. Those low-flow heads are great for the water bill, but the second you get any mineral gunk in there, it’s like showering under a leaky sprinkler. I put one in thinking I’d be all eco-friendly, but af...
RE: Battle Of The Blocked Sink: Which Magic Potion Actually Works?
Honestly, I’ve never had much luck with those “miracle” gels either. They just seem to sit there and do nothing, especially if the clog’s been building up for years. I’m all about getting hands-on - pulling the trap apar...
RE: Burst pipe panic: what would you do?
Honestly, you nailed it - muscle memory is everything in a panic. I’ve had those “brilliant” glow stickers too, and they just ended up as sticky trash. The headlamp idea is solid, though. I keep a cheap flashlight duct-t...
RE: ever wondered how faucets actually work?
Totally get what you mean about those “eco-friendly” valves - sometimes it feels like you’re just rolling the dice. I’ve had a couple that started leaking after a year, which kind of defeats the purpose. Stainless steel’...
