RE: What makes a low-flow showerhead feel comfortable?
If another fixture running made the spray less consistent, would you still prioritize even coverage, or would steadiness move ahead of it?
RE: Finally got my bathroom reno approved - permit process wasn’t as scary as I thought
I get where you’re coming from with the poly sheeting, but I’ve actually seen that backfire a bit in some older houses. Sometimes that plastic just traps moisture if there’s even a tiny leak or if the fan isn’t pulling e...
RE: How much would you pay to fix water damage from a burst pipe?
Yeah, I get what you mean about trusting your gut. Sometimes you just know something’s off, even if the tools say otherwise. I’ve seen that a bunch - old insulation can hold onto smells forever. I’d rather rip out a bit...
RE: My Pipes Burst at 2 AM - Ever Had a Midnight Plumbing Nightmare?
Yeah, I used to roll my eyes at leak sensors too - figured I'd just spot a drip before it got bad. Then I missed a slow leak under the bathroom sink and ended up with warped cabinet wood. Now I’ve got a cheap sensor tuck...
RE: Half flush never seems to work right - am I missing something?
Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing - half flush just never seems to have enough power, especially if there’s any gunk in the rim holes or the flapper isn’t sealing right. Sometimes I’ll mess with the float or shorten the ...
RE: Getting more hot water from my solar heater - what am I missing?
Yeah, those joints are sneaky heat thieves. I used to think slapping insulation on the long runs was enough, but after crawling under the house and burning my knuckles on a bare valve, I changed my tune. That’s spot on ...
RE: When your living room is a sauna but your bedroom's an igloo
Yeah, I’ve tried the magnetic covers too - mine ended up in a drawer after a week. They just didn’t stay put, especially once the heat kicked on. I’m with you on the ceiling fans, though. Reversing them actually does see...
RE: Keeping Pipes Safe and My Sanity Intact
Heat tape definitely isn't my go-to either, but gotta admit, it's saved me a few headaches on those tricky pipe runs that insulation alone couldn't quite handle. Sometimes it's worth the slight hassle just for peace of m...
RE: Cracked Sink Dilemma: DIY Kit or Professional Fix?
Yeah, prep is key for sure. I've had to chip away at some half-done epoxy messes myself - not exactly my idea of a fun afternoon, haha. DIY kits can be great if you're careful, but sometimes it's worth the peace of mind ...
RE: Eco-friendly plumbing options: composting vs. low-flow toilets
Installed a couple of these hybrids myself, and yeah, the water flush does cut into the composting efficiency a bit. But honestly, from what I've seen, most folks aren't aiming for perfect compost - they just want someth...
RE: old pipes and fixtures - can they actually be recycled?
Couldn't agree more with this. I've seen too many old fixtures just left to rot because folks think they're worthless. Even if chrome-plated stuff doesn't fetch top dollar, it's still better than nothing. And yeah, those...
RE: anyone else tired of faucets and drains acting up?
Honestly, plumbing issues seem to come in waves - at least that's been my experience. Sometimes it's just older pipes or buildup causing recurring problems. Have you noticed if certain fixtures act up more often than oth...
