Totally relate to the “squirt gun” struggle—been there. I tried to cut corners with a bargain model too, and honestly, it was more trouble than it was worth. Sometimes “eco” just means you’re flushing twice as often... which kinda defeats the purpose, right? I still think there are decent budget-friendly options, but yeah, design matters way more than I realized.

Had a client once who called their new “eco” toilet the “double-flusher”—not exactly what you want. I’ve seen some models that work great, but yeah, the cheap ones can be more like a water feature than a toilet. Design really does make or break it.

I totally get the “double-flusher” thing—been there, done that, and it’s not exactly saving water if you have to flush twice every time. I went for a budget-friendly “eco” toilet when we redid our bathroom, thinking I’d be saving money and the planet at the same time. Kind of backfired at first… It was like a gentle suggestion to the waste rather than an actual flush.

But I will say, after a little trial and error (and some YouTube troubleshooting), it’s working way better now. I guess you really do get what you pay for with these. Some of the pricier models at my friend’s place work like a charm—one flush and done. For me, the water bill did go down a bit, but honestly, if you have to flush twice half the time, it’s sort of a wash.

I’m still glad I tried it, but if I had to do it again, I’d probably spend a little more upfront for a better design. Not all “eco” toilets are created equal, that’s for sure.

Honestly, I had the same experience.

It was like a gentle suggestion to the waste rather than an actual flush.
That cracked me up because it’s so true. I went cheap on mine too, thinking I’d save in the long run, but ended up cursing every time I had to double-flush. If you’re watching your budget, it’s tempting to go for the lowest price, but sometimes it just doesn’t pay off. Next time, I’m definitely spending a bit more for something that actually works right the first time.

I get where you're coming from—some of these water-saving models really do feel like they're just politely asking things to leave. But, in fairness, not all of them are created equal. I've seen some pricier options that actually have solid flushing power and still save water. The trick seems to be finding one with a good reputation and maybe skipping the absolute cheapest ones. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for, especially when it comes to plumbing... learned that the hard way myself.
