I see your point, but honestly, I think dual-flush toilets can still be worth it if you put up clear instructions. We installed one in our guest bathroom, and at first, yeah, visitors were confused. But after we stuck a simple label above the buttons explaining which was for what, confusion pretty much stopped. I mean, sure, simpler can be better, but sometimes a little extra effort upfront—like clear signage—can make these water-saving options work just fine.

I get what you're saying about clear instructions helping, but honestly, from my experience, guests rarely pay attention to signs—especially in bathrooms. I've managed several rental properties over the years, and no matter how clear or obvious the signage is, there's always someone who either doesn't notice or just ignores it altogether. I've had dual-flush toilets installed in a couple of units, and the maintenance calls definitely went up. People would push the wrong button, complain about weak flushes, or even worse, they'd jam the buttons by pressing too hard.

Eventually, I switched back to simpler low-flow toilets. They save water without confusing anyone, and maintenance calls dropped significantly. Sure, dual-flush toilets sound great in theory, but in practice, simpler usually means fewer headaches. Just my two cents...

Totally agree on simpler being better. Here's a quick tip: if you're set on dual-flush, pick models with clearly labeled buttons (big and small flush icons). Won't fix everything, but it does help cut down those confused-guest calls...mostly.

Had a similar experience at my in-laws' place. They installed one of those fancy dual-flush toilets without clear markings—just two chrome buttons, identical in size. Every family gathering turned into a mini plumbing seminar, with me explaining the difference between the two buttons to confused relatives. Eventually, I just slapped on some homemade labels myself. Honestly, simpler designs usually save everyone headaches down the line...

I get your frustration with unclear designs, but I'd argue the issue isn't really dual-flush toilets themselves—it's poor labeling or design choices. Properly installed and clearly marked dual-flush models can significantly reduce water usage without causing confusion. I've seen plenty of households where simple button designs with clear symbols or size differences eliminate the guesswork entirely. It's more about choosing a model that's intuitive rather than dismissing the whole concept outright.
