are water-saving toilets really worth the hype?

Yeah, wider trapways are nice, but honestly, I've had mixed results with water-saving toilets overall. Installed a few in my rentals thinking I'd save on water bills, and while they do cut down usage, some tenants complained about needing multiple flushes. Kinda defeats the purpose, right? Totally agree on leveling though—had one tenant call me at midnight because the toilet was rocking like a boat...lesson learned, lol.

Yeah, I hear ya—nothing like saving water by flushing twice, huh? 😂 Honestly though, it's all about picking the right model. I've seen some water-saving toilets that work beautifully and others that are...well, let's just say they're better as flower pots. Also, proper installation makes a huge difference. A wobbly throne at midnight sounds like a landlord's nightmare—been there, done that, got the soggy socks to prove it.

Exactly this. Also, double-check the flush valve and water level adjustments—sometimes tweaking those a bit can fix the multiple-flush issue. Had a similar headache myself till I figured that out...

Are these adjustments really enough though? I've tried tweaking valves before, and it only helped a little. Wondering if the pricier models actually save enough water to justify their cost... or is it mostly marketing hype?

I've been down this rabbit hole myself—spent a weekend adjusting valves, swapping flappers, and even tried the ol' "brick in the tank" trick my dad swears by. Honestly, it helped...a bit. But when we finally bit the bullet and upgraded to one of those pricier water-saving models, our water bill noticeably dropped after a few months. Sure, some marketing hype is baked in, but from my experience, the better ones genuinely make a difference. Plus, fewer plunging sessions is always a win in my book.
