Water pressure woes—anyone else dealt with this?

Had a similar issue at my parents' place a few years back. We initially blamed the PRV too, but turns out the real culprit was actually the old galvanized pipes hidden behind the walls. Honestly, it's amazing how much corrosion can build up without you noticing—like arteries clogging up slowly. Switched to copper piping eventually (PEX wasn't as popular then), and the difference was night and day. PRVs can definitely act up, but I'd always double-check those pipes first... corrosion is sneaky stuff.

Had a similar headache when we moved into our older home. Thought it was pipes too, but turned out the main shut-off valve was partially stuck closed—super easy fix once we figured it out. Copper's solid, but anyone here tried PEX recently? Curious how it holds up long-term, especially from an eco-friendly standpoint...

We switched to PEX about five years ago—here's my quick take:

- Installation was a breeze compared to copper (way fewer headaches, literally and figuratively).
- Zero leaks or pressure issues so far, even through some harsh winters.
- Eco-wise, it's a mixed bag: less energy-intensive to produce than copper, but harder to recycle. Still, it lasts ages, so less waste overall.

Honestly, I'd say it's worth considering if you're after practicality and longevity. Just wish recycling options were easier...

Glad to hear it's working out for you, but I'm curious—have you noticed any difference in water taste or odor since switching to PEX? I've read mixed things about plastic piping potentially affecting water quality over time. We're still on copper here, and while installation was definitely a pain (and pricey), the water tastes great. Wondering if that's something worth factoring into the decision...

I've worked with both copper and PEX, and honestly haven't noticed any taste difference myself. But my uncle swears he can taste plastic every time he visits a house with PEX plumbing—could be psychological maybe? Curious if others notice this too...
