I've had mixed results with acrylic latex caulk, honestly. Sure, it's easier to clean up, but in my experience, it doesn't hold up as well around toilets—especially if there's any slight movement. Silicone might be messy, but it sticks better long-term... just my two cents.

Yeah, acrylic latex caulk around toilets is like using duct tape on a leaky boat—looks good at first, but you're gonna regret it later. I learned that the hard way after my toilet started doing the cha-cha every time someone sat down. Silicone's definitely messier, but once it's set, it's rock solid. Just keep some paper towels handy and embrace the chaos... your future self will thank you.

- Totally agree on silicone being the better choice—learned that lesson myself after a weekend wasted redoing the bathroom floor.
- Quick tip: masking tape around the base before applying silicone helps keep things tidy. Less chaos, fewer paper towels needed.
- Curious though, did you check if your flange was secure before sealing it up? A loose flange can cause the toilet to wobble even with silicone.
- Also, anyone tried those wax-free toilet seals yet? I've heard mixed reviews and I'm debating giving one a shot next time around...

Tried one myself last summer—installation was easy enough, but honestly, I'm still skeptical about long-term durability. Has anyone seen how they hold up after a few years?

Installed one about three years ago during a bathroom remodel. So far, zero leaks or issues, and I appreciate not dealing with messy wax rings anymore. From what I've read, durability mostly depends on proper installation and toilet stability—if the toilet rocks even slightly, it can compromise the seal over time. I'd recommend double-checking your flange height and making sure everything's level before committing to one of these seals.
