Yeah, plumbing definitely has its quirks... I've had fittings leak with tape but seal perfectly with paste. Makes me wonder if it's just luck or there's some hidden logic we're missing, lol.

- Totally agree, plumbing can feel like voodoo sometimes...
- Tape usually works fine for me, but I've noticed paste seals better on older fittings or slightly worn threads.
- Maybe it's about thread condition or even how tight we're going? Still a mystery to me.

Yeah, I've been wondering something similar... does anyone else notice a difference depending on the material of the fitting itself? Like brass vs plastic threads? I swear, whenever I'm dealing with plastic fittings, tape seems to slip around and bunch up more often. Paste just feels easier in those cases, but maybe it's just me fumbling around again. Also makes me curious if temperature swings play a roleβ€”like hot water lines expanding and contracting slightly over time might loosen tape seals quicker than paste ones?

Honestly, plumbing always feels like half science experiment, half superstition to me.

I've noticed the same thing with plastic fittingsβ€”tape just doesn't grip as well. Honestly, paste seems to fill the threads better, especially if they're a bit worn. Wonder if anyone's tried combining both tape and paste...overkill or worth a shot?

I've actually tried the tape-and-paste combo on some stubborn fittings beforeβ€”it's kinda like wearing suspenders and a belt at the same time. Sure, it might look like overkill, but hey, better safe than soggy bathroom floor, right? Just make sure you don't go overboard with the paste or you'll end up with a messier situation than you started with... ask me how I know.
