"Wax-free options are great for uneven floors or if you expect to pull the toilet frequently (remodeling, repairs, etc.)."

True, but honestly, even with uneven floors, I've had better luck just doubling up wax rings. Sounds sketchy, I know... but it's a plumber-approved hack that's saved me more than once. Wax-free seals can be awesome, but I've seen too many DIYers overtighten them and cause leaks. Wax might be messy, but it's forgiving—just don't wear your favorite jeans when installing it. Learned that the hard way.

Doubling wax rings can work, but personally I'm cautious about it—seen a tenant try that once and ended up with a slow leak that went unnoticed for weeks. Wax-free seals have their quirks too, but at least you can reposition them easily if something feels off. Either way, definitely agree on the jeans... learned my lesson there too, ha.

I had a similar experience when we first moved into our place. Thought doubling up wax rings would be the easy fix, and it seemed fine at first... until the downstairs ceiling started showing suspicious water spots a month later. Ended up switching to a wax-free seal after that mess. Definitely easier to adjust if you're not super confident with plumbing stuff. And yeah, jeans are definitely not plumbing attire—learned that after ruining my favorite pair crawling around the bathroom floor, lol.

Totally agree with this. Wax-free seals are a lifesaver, especially if you're still figuring things out. One thing I'd add—always double-check the flange height before installing any seal. If it's too low, even the best seal won't hold up long-term. Learned that the hard way myself... and yeah, old sweatpants or cargo pants are my go-to plumbing gear now. Jeans just soak up everything nasty, lol.

Yeah, wax-free seals are handy, but have you had any issues with them on uneven flooring? I've found they're great for adjustments, but sometimes wax still seals better if the floor's not perfectly level... Curious what your experience has been.
