"Plumbing seems to sense overconfidence and punish accordingly."

Haha, isn't that the truth? I totally get the midnight flashlight checks—been there myself. Did you think about adding leak detectors under the sink or near major fittings? They're pretty affordable these days and can really ease that nagging worry. I put a few around after my own DIY plumbing adventure...peace of mind is worth it, trust me.

Totally relate to this. Plumbing has a weird sixth sense for when you're feeling confident and comfortable, then BAM—water everywhere. Learned that the hard way after confidently tightening a fitting just a liiittle too much...cracked it right open. Fun times.

Leak detectors are definitely a good call, but I'd also suggest keeping some spare fittings and connectors handy. Nothing worse than realizing at 11pm you need one tiny part to finish the job. I started buying extras whenever I do plumbing stuff now, just in case. Also, have you checked out those push-to-connect fittings? They're pricier but super convenient if you're in a pinch or just tired of wrestling with soldering copper pipes. Curious if anyone else has tried them and had good luck long-term...

Been there myself—late-night plumbing surprises are practically a homeowner rite of passage. I've used push-to-connect fittings a few times; they're holding up fine so far, but I still prefer soldering for peace of mind long-term...maybe I'm just old-school.

I hear you on the soldering preference—I get that push-to-connect fittings are convenient, but how confident are you they'll hold up 10 years from now? Had a similar 11 pm moment myself when I realized my flux was completely dried out...ended up having to call it quits and hit the hardware store first thing in the morning. Guess that's just DIY life, huh?

Haha, been there with the dried-out flux myself... classic DIY moment. Curious though, anyone had push-to-connect fittings fail yet? Still a bit hesitant to trust them behind drywall long-term.
