Just finished putting in a sump pump myself—honestly, wasn't as intimidating as I thought it'd be. Quick tip: make sure you drill a small relief hole in the discharge pipe to prevent airlock. Learned that one the hard way, haha. Curious if anyone else has some handy tricks or hacks they've picked up along the way...

Good call on the relief hole—seen plenty of DIY installs overlook that step. Another thing worth considering is adding a battery backup system. Power outages always seem to hit at the worst possible times, and having that extra layer of protection can save you from a flooded basement headache. Have you thought about sealing your basement walls too? It’s not a cure-all, but it definitely helps manage moisture long-term.
