Permeable pavers or an infiltration trench for roof runoff?
For runoff from a downspout, how do you decide between a permeable-paver area and a buried infiltration trench? I’m interested in what makes one a better fit when yard space, soil drainage, and seasonal groundwater vary.
How much does a soil infiltration test tell you about performance during wetter parts of the year? I’d also like to understand how each option handles overflow when it can’t take the incoming water, and what upkeep tends to matter over time. Would your answer change if the runoff came from a small roof section rather than a larger area of the yard? I’d check local requirements before choosing, but I’m curious which site conditions are the biggest deciding factors.
