Had a flex line burst once because it was twisted too much. Water everywhere, total mess.

That’s wild—never had one actually burst, but I’ve definitely found some that were almost pinched shut from weird angles. Do you ever worry about the plastic nuts on some flex lines? They just seem flimsy to me.

Those plastic nuts make me nervous every time. I get why they exist—cheaper, easier to hand-tighten—but man, I’ve seen more than one split just from a little overtightening. Metal’s not perfect either (hello, corrosion), but at least it doesn’t feel like it’ll crumble if you look at it wrong. If your sink’s off-center and you’re cranking on those flex lines to make them reach, that’s just asking for trouble. I always try to reroute or get longer lines instead of forcing a weird angle... learned that lesson the hard way after a midnight flood.

Yeah, those plastic nuts always feel like they’re one twist away from disaster. I get the appeal—cheaper, no tools needed—but I’ve snapped a couple just trying to snug them up. Metal ones last longer for me, but I’ve had to deal with rusted threads that just won’t budge.

Totally agree here. I tried forcing a short hose once because I didn’t want to buy a new one, and it leaked right at the connection after a week. Ended up spending more fixing the water damage than if I’d just bought the right length in the first place. Sometimes saving a few bucks upfront really isn’t worth it... but it’s tempting when you’re on a budget.

Curious if anyone’s had luck with those braided stainless lines? They cost more, but maybe they’re worth it for peace of mind.

Braided stainless is my go-to now. Yeah, they’re pricier, but I’d rather pay a bit more than mop up another mini flood at 2am. Had one under my own sink for years—no leaks, no drama. Only downside is they can be a pain to bend in tight spots, but at least they don’t snap or rust out like the cheap stuff. Worth it for the stress reduction alone.

I get the appeal, but man, those braided lines do add up if you’re swapping out a bunch at once. Still, I’ve had cheap ones burst before and it’s just not worth the hassle. Peace of mind’s hard to put a price on, honestly.
