When your bathroom sink ends up off-center

I notice stuff like that all the time, but my partner couldn’t care less unless it’s super obvious. I guess if it’s not blocking the faucet or making a mess, most people just shrug it off. Maybe we’re just picky?

Funny, I actually had a client call me out for a sink being like half an inch off-center once. Most folks never notice unless it’s way off or causing water to splash weirdly. I get why it bugs you though - little things like that can drive me nuts too. If it’s not leaking or blocking anything, I usually just leave it, but sometimes I can’t help but fix it anyway... guess it’s just habit.

Here’s what I usually do: check if the plumbing lines up right, make sure nothing’s leaking or straining, and if it’s just cosmetic, I leave it unless someone insists. It’s not always worth tearing up the whole setup over half an inch, but I get why it grates on people. Sometimes you can shim the cabinet a little and call it good... other times, you just have to let it go.

Funny how once you see it, you can’t unsee it. I’ve had folks swear the whole thing was crooked when it was just the wall out of plumb. Shimming works if you’re lucky, but half the time, you’re just chasing someone else’s shortcuts from years ago. If it’s not leaking or stressing the pipes, I usually tell people to live with it unless they’re really losing sleep over it.

Never fails - start poking around a "crooked" sink and nine times out of ten, it’s the wall that’s the real culprit.
