How much lateral should a repair near the property-line cleanout include?

When a sewer lateral defect is close to a property-line cleanout, the cleanout may offer useful access, but it doesn’t automatically make a trenchless repair suitable or show that the pipe beyond the visible defect is sound.

How do you set the repair boundary in that situation? I’d expect the pipe material and defect type to matter, especially if the damage is at a joint or there are signs of deterioration nearby. What inspection evidence would justify extending the repair beyond the damaged section, and when does limited access make a localized repair less durable than replacing a longer run?
