Not gonna lie, I hear you on the “pros leaving a mess” thing, but I’ve gotta push back a bit. Sometimes the reason you see all that leftover stuff is because the job’s done right—meaning, they didn’t try to MacGyver a fix with whatever was lying around. I’ve been called in to fix more than one “creative” DIY where someone reused a scrap part that really shouldn’t have been reused. Safety first, right?
That said, I do like this idea from the post:
I’ve started keeping a little “scrap bin” for random bits after projects, and it’s surprising how often something comes in handy.
I keep a bin too, but mine’s more for quick fixes—like using old duct clamps to hold up a sagging pipe until I can get the real part. If you’re upcycling, just double-check what you’re using. Some stuff (like copper pipe) is awesome for garden projects. But I’ve seen folks try to use old HVAC ducting for planters, and let’s just say it doesn’t always work out... unless you like rusty tomatoes.
Bottom line: pros should clean up after themselves, but sometimes that pile of “waste” is just making sure your system’s safe and up to code.
