quick plumbing safety check—digital app or old-school paper?

I'm finally getting around to sorting out a proper plumbing safety routine at home after a close call with a leaky pipe last weekend (don't ask, ugh). Anyway, I've been looking into options... there's all these apps now that remind you what to check and when, but part of me still likes good ol' pen-and-paper taped inside the cabinet door. Anyone tried either? Curious which one people prefer and why.

I get the appeal of apps, but honestly, I've tried a couple and ended up ignoring the notifications after a week or two. Something about my phone nagging me to check under the sink just felt... wrong? 😂 I went back to scribbling dates on masking tape stuck inside the cabinet door—cheap, effective, and weirdly satisfying. Plus, no app subscription fees sneaking up on you later. Just my two cents from someone who's been there (and flooded that).

Haha, totally get you on this one. I tried an app once for tracking filter changes and water heater checks, thinking I'd finally join the 21st century. But after a month, I realized I'd been ignoring notifications like they were spam emails—my brain just tunes them out automatically now. Plus, there's something oddly satisfying about physically marking tasks done. I ended up going back to my trusty dry-erase board in the laundry room. It's not fancy, but it works, and no sneaky subscription fees creeping up later either.

Also, side note: masking tape inside the cabinet door is genius. Might have to borrow that idea... beats my current method of scribbling reminders on random envelopes and promptly losing them.
