I've noticed the same thing, actually. Last year I went around 2:30pm, figuring I'd be stuck there forever, but it was surprisingly quick. Maybe people just mentally write off afternoons as busy without ever testing it out? Either way, beats waking up early and standing in line with everyone else. Plus, less time wasted means less money spent on parking meters...always a win in my book.

Had a similar experience myself. I used to always go first thing in the morning, thinking I'd beat the rush, but it seemed like everyone else had the same idea. Last time, I randomly went around 3pm because of a job running late, and it was surprisingly painless. Barely waited 15 minutes. Maybe afternoons really are underrated? Either way, saved me from feeding the meter and stressing about getting ticketed. Guess sometimes the obvious choice isn't always the best one...

I've noticed afternoons can be a hidden gem too. Usually, I prefer mornings for most errands—just feels safer to get things done early—but the DMV seems to defy logic. Last renewal, I went around 2:30pm, and it was surprisingly smooth. Barely had time to sit down before they called my number. Guess sometimes breaking routine pays off... Glad you found a less stressful way to handle it.

Yeah, afternoons can definitely surprise you sometimes. I usually stick to mornings too—just feels a bit safer, less crowded, you know? But now that you mention it, last time I renewed mine, I went around 3pm and it wasn't bad at all. Maybe there's something about mid-afternoon that just hits the sweet spot between lunch breaks and end-of-day rush?

One thing I'm curious about though—is it consistent across different DMV locations or just a fluke at certain ones? My local office is usually packed no matter what time I go, but maybe I've just been unlucky. Also makes me wonder if certain days of the week are better than others... like mid-week versus Monday or Friday. Either way, breaking the usual routine once in a while seems worth a shot if it saves some stress.

I've noticed similar patterns at my local DMV. Quick thoughts from my experience:

- Mid-week afternoons (Tue/Wed around 2-3pm) seem best.
- Avoid Fridays—everyone rushing before weekend.
- Online renewal, if your state allows, is a lifesaver. Did mine last year in pajamas... zero regrets.
