Been thinking about getting into plumbing and I'm kinda stuck between two paths: going straight for a certification program or jumping into an apprenticeship first. Certification seems quicker, but apprenticeships give you hands-on experience right away, you know? Wondering if anyone here has gone either route and how it worked out for you. Which one would you recommend for someone just starting out?

Since you’re weighing speed against hands-on experience, I’d usually start with the apprenticeship. You get supervised fieldwork and classroom instruction together, so you’re learning how systems are actually installed and repaired rather than only preparing for a certificate exam. Certification can often be added later, especially if your area requires specific credentials for licensing.
The key question is whether the program you’re considering is tied to a recognized apprenticeship or licensing pathway, rather than being classroom-only.
