Finally got my bathroom reno approved - permit process wasn’t as scary as I thought

Had one job where the inspector missed a hairline crack in a waste line, but made a big deal about the brand of shower valve. Priorities seem off sometimes...

I hear you, but I think part of the issue is inspectors are bound by code and what’s visible at the moment. Hairline cracks can be tricky - sometimes they’re just not obvious until later. Valve brands, on the other hand, are easy to spot and check off. Not saying it’s ideal, but I get why it happens. In my experience, the best inspectors balance both, though that’s not always the case.

Had a similar thing happen - inspector missed a tiny leak under the tub but flagged the GFCI outlet for being “too close” to the vanity. Ended up chasing that leak a month later. Sometimes I wonder if they just focus on what’s easiest to spot.
