city hikes up plumbing paperwork costs again

Just saw on the local news that the city council voted to raise the fees for plumbing permits. Apparently, it's supposed to help cover administrative costs and inspections, but um... wasn't it already pretty steep? I remember my brother griping about how much he paid last year just to redo his bathroom. Seems like homeowners keep getting squeezed for every little thing these days. Curious if anyone else caught this news or has dealt with these permits lately.
