I get the logic behind dripping faucets, but honestly, it’s not a cure-all.

“Dripping a faucet feels like cheap insurance, especially if you’ve got any runs along outside walls or under cabinets where it gets chilly.”
In my experience, if you’ve got a real cold spot and poor insulation, that trickle can freeze just as easily—then you’re left with a blocked line and a false sense of security. I’d rather see folks focus on sealing drafts and adding heat tape where it counts. Dripping helps, but it’s not a substitute for proper prep.

Honestly, I’ve had pipes freeze even with the faucet dripping when temps really tanked. It’s a decent backup, but I agree—insulation and heat tape are way more reliable. Last winter, I wrapped the crawlspace lines and it made a huge difference. Dripping just isn’t enough for those problem spots.
