Funny you mention the oven cleaner—been there, too. Ever tried brushed nickel? I’ve found it hides smudges a bit better than chrome or black, but I’m not sure it’s as tough as stainless. Anyone had luck with those “spot-resistant” finishes, or is that just marketing?

Spot-resistant finishes are honestly a bit hit or miss in my experience. I put in a “spot-free” faucet last year (Moen, I think?) and it still shows water marks, just maybe not as bad as the old chrome one. Brushed nickel definitely hides fingerprints better than chrome, but I do worry about scratches over time. Stainless is tough but it’s not immune to smudges either. For me, it comes down to what’s on sale and how much cleaning I’m willing to do. Anyone else notice the price jump on these finishes lately?

Had a customer swear by those “spot-free” finishes, but when I went back for another job a few months later, the faucet still had plenty of water spots. I’ve noticed brushed nickel holds up better for fingerprints, but scratches do show over time—especially if you’ve got kids or pets around. The price hikes lately are wild though... seems like every finish is getting more expensive, not just the fancy ones.

Yeah, those “spot-free” claims always sound better than they actually are. Here’s what I’ve found after a few remodels:

- Brushed nickel really does hide fingerprints, but it scratches if you’re not careful—my dog’s collar did a number on ours.
- Matte black looks sharp but every water spot shows, especially if you’ve got hard water.
- Chrome is cheapest but needs constant wiping to look decent.

Honestly, unless you’re super picky, brushed nickel’s still the best balance for busy households. The price hikes are rough, though... I’ve started waiting for sales or checking the clearance section at local hardware stores.

Brushed nickel’s been my go-to for rentals, but I’ve had tenants manage to scratch it up with who-knows-what. Ever tried stainless? I keep wondering if it’s any tougher or just as prone to dings. Matte black looks amazing for about a week—then it’s all water spots and smudges, especially with kids around. Anyone else notice chrome fixtures seem to pit after a few years, or is that just me getting unlucky with water quality? The price hikes are wild lately... I’m tempted to just stick with whatever’s on sale and call it a day.
