Yeah, plastic fittings under sinks are just asking for trouble. Brass is usually solid, but you're right—quality can vary quite a bit. I've seen some cheaper brass fittings that felt flimsy and had rough threads, making me skeptical they'd hold up long-term. Stainless steel might be overkill for most home setups, but hey, if you've got the budget, why not? At least you'd sleep easy knowing it's rock solid under there...

Totally agree on plastic fittings—I've had enough leaks to last a lifetime. Brass is usually my go-to, but you're spot on about quality. I've had a couple of cheaper brass fittings strip threads after barely tightening them down. Stainless steel does feel like a luxury, but sometimes peace of mind is worth the extra bucks. Either way, tackling leaks is always a headache...hang in there, you'll get it sorted.

True, stainless steel fittings can be pricey, but when you factor in the time and frustration saved from not having to revisit leaks every few months...it starts looking like a bargain. Learned that lesson the hard way myself!

Fair point, but honestly, I've had pretty good luck with quality brass fittings. Proper installation and a bit of plumber's tape go a long way—haven't had leaks in years, and saved some cash too.

Yeah, brass fittings can definitely hold up well if they're done right. But I'm curious—have you ever had issues with corrosion over time? I've seen a few brass fittings get pretty gnarly after several years, especially in areas with harder water. Maybe it's just my luck, but I've started leaning toward stainless steel lately...seems to handle the long haul better without getting crusty.
