Had a similar run-in myself—thought stainless steel hoses were the holy grail until one burst on me mid-Thanksgiving dinner prep. Talk about timing... Rubber hoses aren't glamorous, but they're reliable and easy to swap. Fancy isn't always better, folks.

I've always leaned toward rubber hoses myself, precisely because of their reliability. Stainless steel looks great and all, but I've heard a few too many stories like yours—bursting at the worst possible moment. That said, do you think the issue is more with the hose material itself or maybe improper installation? Sometimes even a slight kink or overtightening can cause premature failure... Curious if anyone else has noticed this.

That's a good point—I recently replaced mine and noticed the instructions specifically warned against overtightening. Maybe it's less about the hose type and more about careful installation? Either way, plumbing issues are definitely a homeowner's rite of passage... Hang in there!

Had the same issue recently and learned a few things the hard way:

- Definitely agree about overtightening. The fittings usually have rubber washers or gaskets that seal properly without much force. Tightening too much just crushes them and makes leaks worse.
- Check alignment carefully. Even a slight angle can cause uneven pressure and leaks.
- Also, inspect the threads closely—mine had a tiny burr that caused dripping until I smoothed it out.

"Maybe it's less about the hose type and more about careful installation?"

Exactly this. Proper technique seems to matter more than brand or hose type in my experience...

Had a similar headache last month—turned out the gasket was pinched slightly off-center. Agree it's usually installation, but honestly, some cheaper hoses degrade faster. Worth investing in something durable if you hate crawling under sinks as much as I do...
