What should a hidden-leak detection quote include before a wall is opened?
A low fee to locate a hidden plumbing leak can be hard to compare with a more thorough investigation if the quotes don’t spell out what the visit includes. Does the fee cover particular tests and written findings, or just an initial assessment?
I’d also want to know whether opening and restoring a wall are separate costs, and what happens if the source can’t be located on the first visit. Which details make it easier to judge whether two leak-detection quotes are comparable?

I’d compare the written scope line by line: which tests and areas the fee covers, what findings you’ll receive, and whether any next visit costs extra if the first one is inconclusive. Keep wall opening, leak repair, and putting the wall back into separate cost lines, so a low detection fee isn’t mistaken for a lower total job price.
