So, I'm halfway through cleaning up dinner last night and suddenly my garbage disposal just decides it's had enough. It hums a little, but nothing's moving. Tried the reset button trick, no luck. Even did the ol' broom handle spin thing my dad swears by—still nothing. Honestly, I'm about ready to toss the whole thing out the window. Anyone else had their disposal randomly rebel like this, or is mine just uniquely stubborn?

Yeah, disposals can be weirdly temperamental sometimes. Had one do exactly that at my place last year—turned out a tiny piece of broken glass had wedged itself in there and jammed the whole thing up. Even the broom handle trick didn't budge it. Ended up having to disconnect it completely and fish out the culprit manually. Might wanna check if something sneaky got stuck down there... disposals love hiding surprises.

Wait, is the broom handle trick actually safe? Heard mixed things about that one... I usually just reset mine or use an allen wrench underneath. Maybe worth trying before taking everything apart?

Haha, the broom handle trick is one of those "use at your own risk" kinda things... I've seen it work wonders, but I've also seen it go sideways pretty fast. Honestly, the allen wrench method underneath is usually safer and simpler. Just unplug it first (seriously, don't skip this step), insert the wrench into that little hex hole on the bottom, and gently wiggle back and forth until it frees up. Saved me from dismantling mine more times than I'd like to admit...
